KATHY'S PAGE
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Geocities has decided to close down permanently on October 26th of this year. Therefore, I have moved all my Web sites to Webs.com. Here is a link to my new version of this Web page: Kathy's Page.
Hello! Just want to introduce myself and to tell you a little about myself. Among other things, I love to write. For 18 months, from November, 1998 to July, 2000, I worked as a part-time freelancer for a small-town newspaper in southeastern Oklahoma. In the late summer of 2000, I moved to South Carolina. For many years, reading and creative writing have been favorite activities of mine, and I have been collecting videos and DVDs for well over a decade. (You'll find a couple of lists of some fanfiction I've written linked to two of my Web pages.)
In the spring of 2000, I completed a job I'd been doing since the fall of 1999 for the local elementary school in my old home town, reading the books chosen for its reading program and writing a quiz for each one. To entice children to read for pleasure, the school has a program in which the children may win prizes by reading selected numbers of books. The purpose of the tests is to make sure the children actually read the books and not just the covers, etc.
In addition to receiving an associate degree from Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas (where I majored in Speech and Drama), I've attended 2 universities: the University of Oklahoma (where I majored in journalism) and Oral Roberts University (where I majored in General Communication Arts). I've also graduated from 2 correspondence schools: Writer's Digest School and the Institute of Children's Literature, and I attended a nearby writer's workshop during that time. (If you'd like to read the stories and articles I wrote as assignments for the correspondence schools, and my newspaper articles--as well as my nore recent fanfiction--click on My Writings.)
For several months in 2001--and for a short time in late 2002--I worked as a telemarketer; I've since worked as a technical support agent for Bell South FastAccess DSL and in other jobs. Last summer, 2007, I moved back to Oklahoma, where I've lived since. I'm not athletic, but I do like to swim. I'm a fan of the OU Sooners, and I also like women's gymnastics. In addition to reading, I love to listen to music. I love children and animals, and my fiction stories tend to feature children. One of my dreams is to become a published novelist--preferably a best-selling one!
In recent years, I've acquired a love of surfing the Internet, as well. I also enjoy exchanging email and updating my Web pages. Needless to say, I've joined several online groups, and I moderate one of my own.
On this home page and on several other Web pages, I've made numerous links to a large variety of Web sites. I hope you enjoy them!
Incidentally, one of my favorite singers is Carrie Underwood. Here is a link to a list of some of her YouTube videos for your enjoyment. Below that link is a list of Web sites pertaining to her.
