A brilliant CD.
An outstanding live BBC performance. After an excellent version of ‘The Embryo,’ the new ‘Fat Old Sun’ (not found on most bootlegs) is played probably for the first time - here it's similar to the album cut and hasn't progressed into the long instrumental it became later. A fabulous ‘Green Is the Colour’/Careful with that Axe, Eugene’ is next - Gilmour's delicate playing and singing are followed by Waters' menacing performance. After a band introduction, a very rare ‘If’ is played very similarly to the studio recording, most likely for the only time - Waters plays acoustic guitar with Wright on bass and organ. ‘Atom Heart Mother’ is introduced with that title for the first time and played again with brass and choir, this time almost identical to the studio version (many of the same effects seem to have been used) and much better than at the June 27 Bath Festival. A great recording and a tremendous show.
