This could be (and probably is) the best show of the year—the band is on right from the start. Memorable moments in the first part include a great solo in ‘Over the Hills and Far Away’ and a strong ‘Kashmir'. Later Jones combines blues and jazz in his ‘No Quarter’ piano solo—the jam is also played at a faster pace than usual for the rest of the American tour. ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’ makes a rare 1975 appearance and sounds as if it’s been played all along - Page follows this up with a tremendous guitar solo in ‘Trampled Under Foot.’ After the interminable drum solo, ‘Dazed and Confused’ is probably the longest ever version (nearly 45 minutes)—Plant adds lyrics from ‘For What It’s Worth’ to the ‘Woodstock’ section before Page begins the long instrumental jams; the funky section from previous years is also rediscovered for one of the few times this year. The encore includes both ‘Communication Breakdown’ and ‘Heartbreaker, finishing off a fine concert in one of the band’s favorite cities.
