The Christmas Ball, held annually in Sonora, California is generally a member, or invited guest, only event. Held in a Victorian Era Opera House, an evening of dancing and food is provided for a cost of around $25.00. This is one of my favorite events, as it is a side of Civil War history not often portrayed. The social aspect of an event such as this is fun and extremely interesting, and the period dances gives the more nimble members of our group a chance to show their skills. Period attire is required.
