THE LOST AERO-MEMBERS

(Tom Hamilton, Steven Tyler, Joey Kramer, Joe Perry, Ray Tobano)

Ray Tobano: Ray was born in New York City on Dec 23, 1943. He and his mother moved to Yonkers NY where he first met Steven…swinging in a tree. Steven ordered him down and Ray later beat him up as pay back. But despite that they became good friends, and played in a few bands together. Ray was Aerosmith’s first rhythm guitarist, but was never on an Aerosmith album. He played in the band from 1970-1972 but left because of internal problems with the band and was replaced by Brad Whitford. He came back in 73 as “marketing manager/director of merchandise”. Ray and Steven are still good friends.
*Ray is most credited with designing the modern Aerosmith logo
*Ray’s most current band is called Crazy Raymond and the Watch Dogs

(Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, Steven Tyler, Rick Dufay, Jimmy Crespo)

Rick Dufay: Rick was born in Paris, but his family moved constantly eventually ending up in New York. During his childhood Rick’s mother taught him to play many instruments and by age 13 he was composing his own songs. He floated through many bands (mostly blues-based) until in 1979 he recorded his first solo album, Tender Loving Abuse. In 1981 he joined Aerosmith temporarily taking over Brad Whitford’s role on rhythm guitar, while Brad was on his own venture, Whiftord/St. Holmes. Rick recorded Rock In a Hard Place with Aerosmith and toured with the band until 1984. He received many excellent reviews despite the band’s trouble at that time. He was also the one who in the end brought Steven and Joe back together. Though Aerosmith finally reformed with it’s original members, the boys have stayed close with Rick and are always supportive of his music.
*Steven has said if he could look like anyone else in the world, it would be Rick Dufay.

Jimmy Crespo: James (Jimmy) Crespo was born in Brooklyn NY on July 5th 1955. Jimmy had a classical background and developed a very unique guitar style. He Joined Aerosmith when he was 23 replacing Joe on lead guitar while Joe was busy with his own Project. As soon as Steven saw Jimmy, he wanted him in the band; he had ‘the look’. Aerosmith went on the road with Jimmy in 1980. He played on Night in the Ruts and Rock in a Hard Place and can be heard on Classics Live I and Pandora’s Box. He left the band in 1983 when Joe came back. He has toured with many artists and his current band is the Rhythm Junkies.
*Jimmy only took two weeks to learn the set before going on tour with Aerosmith
*At one of his first shows with Aerosmith he got a standing ovation
