Goran comes from the beautiful city of Split,Croatia,where he still lives and is very popular there.He began playing tennis as a boy and he always had support from his parents in it.He was very successful as a junior tennis player and he had won some major tennis tournaments,but his success came when he started to play as a pro in 1988.He rose on the tennis rankings list very fast and came to be one of the best 10 players in the world where he stayed for a long time.He won a lot of tournaments during the years,but he still hasn't won a Grand Slam Title what is one of the most interesting things in his career.In 1996 he and his father organized new ATP tournament in Croatia called Croatian Indoors which he won all three times.In 1998 after he won the tournament third time downfall in his career began.He started losing in very early stages of tournaments until his beloved Wimbeldon came.He made the finals, but Pete Sampras was better again.After that downfall again until Kremlin Cup in Moscow where he reached the finals but lost again.He started new year on Quatar Open where he reached the quarter finals,but lost again against anonimus player.Now we are waiting for Australian Open to see what is going to happen.

Goran is one of the best servers in the world.He is officially proclaimed to be the best first server of all times.They call him "the man of 1000 aces" because he has more than 1000 aces at the end of every year.That number sometimes goes over 1400 aces.

Goran is also a big joker.Often you'll see him doing or saying something funny.He sometimes does it just for fun but sometimes because he is frustrated cause his losing,especially if he is the reason for it.Sometimes you'll hear him swearing in Croatian or even breaking his raquet,but that's our Split temperament and that's why we all love Goran.
