Gamma Omega - Univeristy of Houston
Our Chapter is very blessed to have a local collegiate chapter, Gamma Omega, to support.  Our Chapter plays at vital role in their chpater.  Mnay of our members are advisors to Gamma Omega.

During Recruitment our Chapter provides a night of food, this year provided by one of our members and Gamma Omega Alums, Kate Warth, who owns two local Quiznos.  The girls were very grateful for the sandwiches, chips, and desserts.  Also during the week our members are there to provide much needed support.

For the other chapters that are in our Province we sent cards to them congratulating them on a great  Recruitment.

For the Fall 2001 Pledge Class we bought them presents, a tumbler, pen  and  stickers! We passed them out to the  new members at their first meeting, Sept. 17th.  It was a great opportunity for our members to introduce themselves to the new member's, and handout the presents. It was a great way to get our  name  out to the new members that we hope will become members of our chapter in a few years!

This year for the Race for the Cure our chapter took over the Rent-A-Sis program.  Our Chapter members that could not Race or choose not to could sponser some members of the Gamma Omega Chapter to race in their place.

Melissa Gottlieb, our Aulmnae Collegiate Relations Chair, is busy getting an Alum-Chum program  into full swing. She is asking for alum volunteers who would like to be an alum-chum for the new  memebrs of Gamma Omega.  This is a great wat to show the new members that Zeta  really does last a lifetime!  The goal with the  alum-chum program is to start a sort of "alumnae  family tree' with the new member. In the future  when they take a little sister, we can incorporate  them into the "family"!

On December 3rd we hed the alumnae/collegiate holiday party at the Gamma Omega house. It was a huge success!  The chapters represented were the Houston Evening, West Houston, Northwest Houston and the Houston Association. Each alumnae chapter donated food items as well as members to attend. There was more food than could be eaten! Yum!! Our very own, Denise Neir read her infamous holiday story,  "Polar Express" to the girls while they ate. We had a great time!! Thanks go out to Trudy Jackson for allowing us to all work together with the chapter and special thanks to Denise for helping Melissa out during the end of the semester!

January 13 was the alumnae-collegiate house clean up from 10 to 5 at the Gamma Omega house.  We brought cleaning tools - garbage bags, sponges, brooms, 409 or any spray cleanser, etc....  It was a lot to clean, but also a lot of fun!

Gamma Omega was very kind to host an appreciation dinner for all teh alumnae that support them.  The dinner was March 14 at Julie Hightowers.  We were also paired up with our alum chums at that night.  Special thanks to our Melissa Gottlieb and Jenny Cash, the Gamma Omega Alum Collegiate chair for all the work they put into that night!

The new Alum/ Collegiate board Yahoogroup has been set up. Members on the board consist of alumnae, collegians, and presidents from the Houston Association, Houston Evening, West Houston, Ft. Bend and the Northwest Chapters.  Trudy Jackson, General Advisor for Gamma Omega is also a part!  This board will help organize alum chums, activities with Gamma Omega, and also it will give Trudy Jackson, Gamma Omega General Advisor, a place that she can turn to for advisors or for extra help.

If you have any suggestions on how we can help  show  our support for the Lamar and Sam Houston chapters  as  well, please contact Melissa,
