Although it is now midnight, I just had to think fairly hard to remember what day it was all day. I keep getting the impression that the day is switching on me halfway through, like it starts out Sunday and ends up being Thursday, or maybe it changes every time I have my back turned, then switches back when I look again, so that all I can detect is a vague sense that something very fishy is going on.
In any case, in preparation for my final (note the singular, as I enjoy it very much) on Wednesday, I actually began to study a little bit, but I quickly tired of all this unfamiliar mental exertion. I have maybe 17 handouts I have to memorize, and I'm now five into it with only a day to go - in America, this would be the height of recklessness, but here I'm some kind of crazed study demon. The problem is that it's very difficult to work up the motivation when I am absolutely certain the test will be easy, and the only doubt in my mind is whether it will be studying-is-a-waste-of-time easy or maybe-a-little-is-a-good-idea easy.
A certain someone has actually managed to fairly well stump the OED with a word that I'm fairly certain is only English in an extremely nominal sense: frankalmoign. The only definition the OED has for the word as a whole is to say that it's related to law, but the entry for "almoign" has a fair definition: "the tenure of lands, etc. bestowed upon God, that is, given to such people as bestow themselves in the service of God, for pure and perpetual alms; whence the feoffors or givers canot demand any terrestrial service so long as the lands remain in the hands of the feoffee." Now where on Earth this certain someone came across the word I have no clue, but nonetheless it contains super-concentrated essence of nifty to the maxx, what its innate coolness and using both "feoffor" and "feoffee" in the definition, which are cool because they have very neat spellings. Really, "feoffor" looks like the JLA member that never was, and "feoffee" looks like a sticky candy that was too good to be true.
There was another shirt along this theme that had "Sustainable Tourism" emblazoned at the top, underneath which was a massive amount of writing that appeared to be a large paragraph chosen at random from a dry-as-dust essay on tourism management, but it was too big to photograph adaquately.
