Happy Easter Vigil! This is the night where we stay up and look for Easter, and sometimes find him hidden under a stump, jamming out folk ballads while the worms do the shimmy. OR AM I THINKING OF ELVIS?
This is a shot of the capsule hotel that we stayed at in Aoyama on the way to Hokkaido. Capsule hotels, as it turns out, are awesome. While surprisingly expensive at about $30 a night, they perfectly match my philosophy for hotels, which is that it should provide exactly a place to sleep, a place to shower, and a place to store one's crap while performing these actions. Providing exactly that and nothing more at what is overall a fairly reasonable cost, these little suckers have won my heart. It's great, your little capsule doesn't even have a lock, just a curtain that you pull down over the entryway when you want to sleep. The height of peace and security while being able to sleep in a coffin! Oh boy!
The China trip may be off, I don't really know at this point. I've been putting off talking about it because since I last mentioned it the trip has gone on and off at least twice daily. I desperately want to go, but what with money and time problems, it may not work out. I am not particularly pleased about this, but there is really nothing I an do. If the China trip does fall through, however, I will probably check out Matsuyama, a smallish city on the smallest of the four main islands, Shikoku, which Alice recommended very highly.
Classes start on Monday. Did I already mention that? I don't remember. I think I did, but this time I've more or less worked out a schedule - I managed to progress to the next level of Japanese class, so I'll be taking a few semi-advanced Japanese courses, a few more elementary ones, a Japanese culture course, and a history course and a lit course, the last three of which are all from the same professor. I'll also be taking a few more classes, but I believe I mentioned most of them already.
  That's about it. YAY!
