IT SNOWED TODAY! Not just any snow, either, but a veritable blizzard sent straight from jolly old Jack Frost, who is using busy dealing with frozen Russo-Finnish girls and Baba Yaga. Indeed, when I say "snow," I mean not the dull specks of frozen water that fall where mere mortals tread, but instead 20 full hours of beautiful flaky Snow, so pure that it deserves both the capital and a halo, which fortunately PageBuilder does not have as a font option. This was also Aussie Alice's first time seeing snow (she's reading the blog now, so it's open season), which made it extra fun - I've never met anyone who's never seen snow before, even in Arizona.
I watched an absolutely amazing Chinese movie about life during the Cultural Revolution and the times leading up to it with Wu today. Seriously, it's one of the best movies I've seen in years; so good that I'm thinking about buying it even though it is only available in a region 2 dvd format with no english subtitles, which would mean buying a japanese dvd player and being unable to watch it with anyone who didn't speak either japanese or chinese. I looked it up on imdb and amazon, and they don't appear to acknowledge its existence, so there's not much I can do. Anyway, if you get a chance to watch a movie called "Ikiru" in Japanese (not Kurosawa's movie of the same title) or something else in Chinese, do so.
Gave my presentation today, and it went pretty dang well in my opinion. Of course, I'm quite certain the Japanese was incomprehensibly broken, but because it was a topic I've researched a fair amount in English, at least I wasn't stumped by anyone's questions afterwards.
In Higuma's class today, even though one of the other students and I had taken time out to write essays as commanded, and I have pretty definitive proof that he was sitting in his office the entire time, he did not deign us worthy of his time and chose not to attend class today, leaving three students sitting by themselves in a classroom for an hour and a half, waiting in vain for him to burst in and take us to a fancy crab dinner. To say this class is like none other I've ever taken would be an understatement so great that it would spawn intergalactic copyright lawsuits from the planet Understatement in the distant Legalus Galaxy.
Tomorrow I will quite likely not post, as Andrew Richardson, to whom we all owe today's Engrish as well, will be coming to visit, and what with that and Ayed's streetcar concert, I should be pretty busy.
