Any similarity to the original characters is to be expected as all stories in this series are as cannon with the books as possible without breaking into the movie version (with the exception of the end of The Itch, which is based around the scene in The Green Dragon, Return Of The King). Any similarity to stories by other authors, however vague, is purely coincidental.

Of course since the book didn’t mention how these two got together and fell in love, I decided to put in my two penny. And yes, they did fall in love; check out the appendices.

Summary : A light and fluffy piece. What are they arguing about this time?

Aragorn gauged the position of the sun and then glanced at the feuding pair again. He sighed. This had been going on for over three hours. Why did they not just agree to disagree? By now, of course it did not look like they were going to agree on anything, more likely that the whole thing, whatever it was, was reaching almost to the point of fisticuffs between Gimli and Legolas. Finally, Aragorn had had enough.

He sighed in exasperation. “Alright, you two, out with it. No elven riddles, no boring dwarvish tale of magnificence in battle, I want the truth. What is it with you two?”

Gimli attempted invisibility, his boots were suddenly ever so interesting.

Legolas said, “I declare the Fifth.”

Aragorn frowned. “The fifth what?

Legolas mentally kicked himself. “Wait, that’s not for another five hundred years in a country that does not exist yet.”

Aragorn looked at him in surprise and then confusion. “I knew elf eyesight was good, but not that good.”

Legolas lifted his chin in defiance. “Alright, the truth. We can’t decide on pastel pink bed linen or sage green.”

Aragorn looked from one to the other. That was it? They were arguing over bed linen? What were they like when deciding more important things? He decided he did not want to know. “Who wanted pink?”

Both Legolas and Gimli spoke together, pointing to the other, “He did.” They turn to each other and said together, “No, I didn’t. You did.”

Aragorn rolled his eyes as they started again.

“No. I said, I would have the pink if you liked it.”

“No. You said, you would have pink over any other colour.”

“I was talking about skin, not sheets!” Gimli announced loudly and with embarrassment.

Legolas shut his mouth and then added quietly, “Yes, I believe you did.” He turned to Aragorn and declared, “We’re done now.”

Gimli nodded, hands behind his back, gazing at the ceiling. “Yep, we’ll have blue sheets.” Legolas threw him a tight look.

Aragorn sighed and rolled his eyes. “I give up.”
