Silence

I’ll not speak my fears; no one will listen.
I’ve talked too much and they’ve all gone.
I have a need for confirmation,
I want to know that they still care.

I’m lost in a world of reminiscence,
A time once bright but dulled with age.
I need my friends.  I need my family.
But what was once held dear has passed.

All is silent, all is yearning,
For a long forgotten song.
In the back of minds it lingers,
It went from memory summers past.

It should return, I want it with me,
But this is not a happy end,
I’m still waiting to find the reason
That it left me long ago.
