BIO-

in march of 1993 i met comic book artist michael bair at a local comic book convention.i took one look at his portfolio and knew instantly i'd be drawing comic books for the rest of my life.i spent the entire weekend of the con talking to mike about art, comics and everything else.i got his home number and address from him and we've been in touch ever since.at the time i was 18 and mike was 32.here i am now,30 years old and still drawing comic books!after talking with mike for a year on the phone and numerous snail mail packages we collaborated on my first real published comic art.the piece was the alternate cover for Dream Wolves #8.(you can see part of it on my ARTWORK page.)i've done conventions from charlotte,to orlando to atlanta to washington dc.pretty much all of the big southeastern cons.in i think it was 1995 i met airbrush artist jeff pittarelli. i got his number and address and we did pretty much the same thing, phone, snailmail.jeff introduced me to the airbrush and what it could do.at that point i had no idea what an airbrush even was.my dad kept pestering me to try one out so we bought one at wal-mart for i think less than $30.i had to use cans of co2 because i had no compressor.right away i was amazed at how easy the airbrush was for me.later on i got word from a friend that a local gym needed airbrush work done.on a whim i went by to see what sort of cash i'd be looking at.at that point i'd maybe had a top commision of $50...MAYBE $100.the guy told me he'd pay me $600.i nearly shit my pants.i told him i'd do it.i asked for $100 up front for materials.first thing i did was buy a better airbrush gun.it cost around $130.my dad spotted me the extra cash.the gun was a badger pro gun.i had to do 6 lifesize body shots of weightlifters on the gym walls. i'd never tried color before!! i was in way over my head!!! i thought to myself that i was fucked and i'd have to pay this guy his money back.i gave it a shot...right away i was like, man, this is EASY!the first piece i did was pretty good(today i'd want to piss on it because it sucks compared to what i can do now)all that mattered was the guy who payed me loved it.the next 5 all came out great!(they blow compared to my current stuff, but hey, these were my first attempts!)i got paid, learned how to do color and my ego grew astronomically.my next airbrush jobs were $400 and $500.now i won't even pick the thing up for less than $100.i've made several thousand dollars off of the airbrush,as opposed to the few hundred via comic books.still,my passion is with comics.the best part about it is i can and do do both. i'm no slave to medium,i do watercolor, charcoal, acrylic, oil, whatever works...where do i see my art 10 years from now? still doing comics of course, but i want to focus more on painting with traditional paintbrushes and tube paints.i'll still do all the other stuff, but tube paints are more challenging and you learn more from them.well, gonna wrap this shit up...i'll add more to this eventually when i think of stuff to include.

hello to everyone looking at the newly updated material. this site will be updated much more often now that i have a super fast cable modem,a digital camera that doesn't suck ass,and lots of new pics and art. i decided to delete the old text here giving shout outs to some of my old bedroom playmates. it seemed kinda hokey and immature for some reason. fret not,i'm still the same ol' brian with a healthy dose of ego to boot. i guess at this moment in time i feel compeled to act in a manner that won't upset anyone(one person in particular). i would like to say hello to some of my friends though! Karalyn,Rita and the jailbait daughter! look forward to seeing you 3 soon. Karalyn and Rita may be dinosaurs compared to me,but they're a shitload of fun to hang out with. middle aged women can be a breath of fresh air sometimes. Karalyn we need to hang out soon and create art...................... Loius Small jr. had a blast with you last june, looking forward to creating art via snail mail soon. thanks for the email and we'll try to iron out the collaboration details soon i hope.  that's it for now i guess....check back for new updates from time to time or just email me and yell at me to add new junk on here.

***1/13/06***  got a new girlfriend who rocks my socks....i'll be creating art with her very soon. it'll be nice to collaborate with one of my models whom isn't a stripper...although she is built like one >:)
