The RETROVIEWS continue as I put up a review of MYST III: EXILE, a great game that just seemed to have disappeared from the public eye too quickly despite critical acclaim. Certainly one of my recent favorites and easily establishes the MYST SERIES as one of the greatest in game history.

I finally got a copy of BAD MILK and I've written all about it HERE. Not a great game, but not a complete waste of time. Something different.

Speaking of something different, we'll see how long this current incarnation lasts, but keep checking back because even with all the redesigning, I can't seem to stop playing games, so I'll keep posting.

Decided to try and make the Jamboree a bit more user friendly. EMAIL me and let me know what you think.

With the lack of new games coming out, figured I'd start on some RETROVIEWS so up first is one of my favorites, TOM CLANCY'S GHOST RECON. Certainly better than THE SUM OF ALL FEARS. Hopefully RAVEN SHIELD and SPLINTER CELL will be as good or, dare I say, better?

--------------------
Also, it's been in there for awhile, but GET SYSTEM SHOCK 2 OUT OF THE BARGAIN BIN! It isn't as legendary as the orginal, but it certainly is one of the better FPS games you can buy and it's SO CHEAP!

GAME ACTING - Why do we have photorealistic graphics, but acting that inanimate objects could top?

GAME LENGTH - Long games or short games? Who knows?!

NONLINEAR GAMING - Sure it's just a dream, but it would be nice...

JUNE LULL - I carry on about how nothing big is coming out from Soldier of Fortune 2 until Neverwinter Nights. This got me to thinking about a RENTAL MARKET for PC games.

REMAKING RESIDENT EVIL - There is already a DIRECTOR'S CUT, but somebody decided we needed an updated version again. Does this seem like a ploy to bring people to the Gamecube while they develop the NEW Resident EVIL? It sure does to me.

WRITINGS

Ethnography and Videogames?! Indeed! - Written under threat of horrible torture, I talk about ethnographic film and how the interactivity of videogames offers a much better medium than film. Not too bad, actually, especially towards the end when I start jibber jabbering about games.

Interactive Fiction: Harbinger?! No doubt! - A piece I wrote about the ignored genre of Interactive Fiction. Once the mainstay of computer entertainment, it is now all but extinct. HOWEVER, IF is doing things for gameplay that graphic games haven't even TRIED yet.

PURPOSE:

This site is here to present MY feelings towards as many PC games as I can afford. I'm sure you probably won't agree with all my spoutings, so send me an email if you are so inclined. I'd also be glad to accept any contributions from whatever readers this site might have.

Enjoy your stay!
