Our Babies

Our dogs are considered to be part of our family and we do not part with them easily.
We occasionally have puppies available to show or loving pet homes.

Our babies are raised in our home and we are
selective about the homes that they will go to.
Below is more information on how you can have your own Bar-Lar Baby.

Pet Stores
Please read before you go any further

Please do not support ANY pet stores when looking to purchase your next baby.
The babies sold in the pet stores are either bred and raised in mass facilities or purchased
in breed lots from back yard breeders/puppy mills to be sold to the pet store business.
There is no thought given to the individual traits that make a breed correct and true to
what the breed should be.
I.E. correct size, correct coat texture, correct eyes, health issues and so much more.
Find a reputable show breeder that actively shows and has had success in the ring.
This gives you the assurance that your baby has been bred and raised in the best way and
the breeder has worked hard to eliminate not only poor traits but health issues.
Show breeders prices are fair and normally less expensive than pet stores.
Their babies also come with health guarantees. So before you decide to buy a new baby,
Please look for a show breeder or contact the National breed club for the particular breed
you are looking for. They can help get you in touch with a reputable breeder.

DO YOUR HOME WORK!
Its up to you to be educated about your purchase both for your new baby and for
the protection of breeds in general. This includes "Designer Breeds".

We strive to produce the very Best Shih Tzu possible using the Shih Tzu Standard as our guide. All of our babies are AKC registered and we provide a full written health guarantee. They are happy, healthy and given the very best start possible. Young Adults & Retired Dogs

Occasionally we have young adult dogs available.  We also occasionally retire girls  from our breeding program. They are sold with a spay/neuter agreement as well. They are perfect for  adult homes and senior citizens that are looking for a companion but do not want an energetic puppy.  The retired girls are usually 3-6 years old. You are welcome to call or email us for more information.

 Designer Breeds

There is currently a new trend to mix different breeds together, especially toy breeds. They are calling these dogs "Designer Breeds". I have even heard that buyers are being told that the breeds are hybrids and are much healthier. This doesn't' even make good sense! When you combined 2 breeds you are taking on whatever problems the breeds have individually. You are also combining different coat types such as long and short or straight and curly. Also different temperaments that may not blend well together. It takes many years to produce a consistent type so that the same characteristics breed true every time.
One of the great things about purchasing a purebred dog is so that you can read the individual standard for the breed your interested in and best match up the right breed for you and your family depending on your wants and needs. A breed receives AKC approval after many years of hard work  to consistently produce correct breed traits.

Unfortunately there are probably always going to be mixed breeds because there are always going to be irresponsible humans. If these breedings must occur, they should be the result of accidents, certainly not created for the purpose of making money!

Webster's Dictionary Definition of a Mutt is:
(mut) n. Slang. A dog of mixed breed. mongrel.

All dogs deserve good homes, please use your common sense and don't be a part of this horrible money making scheme.
