Many of the web pages on this site use some special fonts that you may not have. When you see a font
listed below in Courier (typewriter font, which you should have as a Windows default)
, that means you don't have that font. (A sample in GIF format is also provided for you to see what it looks like.) Click on the arrow button if
you would like to install it on your hard drive; it will be downloaded as a self-extracting ZIP file.
You will need to unzip it into your Windows Fonts directory. Note that the first two (Comic Sans MS
and Tempus Sans ITC) are extensively used in the Academy and on Fishenet. Copperplate and Old
English are also on a lot of sites.

If you have a version 4 browser, there is
a new technology called Dynamic Fonts, which transfers the font with
the web page (so you don't need to have it installed in your Windows font directory). This paragraph will appear in a New-Yorker sort of font if your
browser supports this feature, otherwise it will be plain old Times Roman.
Check out
Bitstream for more about
this neat feature. We will be using this on our web pages, but will retain the Font download site for the majority of web surfers.
