The Dark Ages: King Arthur and Others

Links and Web Rings

  • The Cardiff Arthurian's Links Page
Very comprehensive; this page is really all you need to link to anything about King Arthur. [Dead link now]
  • The Cardiff Arthurian Society
Bingo, first hit on an Internet search, gets you right into it. [Dead link now]
  • King Arthur and Cuneglasus
Check it out if you are interested in an obscure historical view (as I am)
  • The Ruin and Conquest of Britain
Text history of the Dark Ages with original sources
  • The Labyrinth
Georgetown University's massive website project for Medieval Studies (looks good; must check it out further). [Oops, they have privatized this site -- you need to be on the Georgetown LAN to access it.]
  • Arthur's Realm
A small Arthurian web site that is part of a much larger effort
  • Peoples of the Dark Ages
A nicely laid-out web site to help you keep track of Visigoths, Angles, etc. etc. [Dead link now]
  • Odin's Castle
A massive and ambitious web site that covers all of human history in all the various rooms in the castle. You'll want to check out the King's Chamber for the King Arthur stuff, but have fun browsing the rest of the site
  • King Arthur's Ring
Be sure to check out this web ring for further King Arthur links. It is lower down on this page. [Dead link now] (You will find many of the same links as these there -- this is a small but dedicated Internet community)
  • The Saxon Shore
The web ring owner's site. Nice [Dead link now -- very sad!]
  • Early British Kingdoms
This is really excellent. Did you ever wonder where Rheged was? Dumnonia? Brycheiniog? Bernicia? Who was King Cole? [bad question, because he isn't mentioned] [Dead link now]
  • Vortigern Studies
This great king had a bad press agent and is remembered as a villain. Visit this well-designed and extenstive web site to get the other side of the story
  • King Arthur Books
An on-line bookseller specializing in King Arthur; if you see any titles on my web site and would like to get them, try here [Dead link now]
  • A Page for Unbelievers
Skeptics and pedants do not believe Arthur ever existed (or else was a folk compilation of Celtic gods and other forgotten heroes)

    Historical Novels Web Site

January 1998. I have started up a new web site for a general novelistic history of Europe during the pre-Medieval period, based on the books in my library: The Ancient World. Please visit, even though it is still very much a work in progress. --Grobius

Those who know my Web Pages should realize it was only a matter of time until I got around to this. Yet to come: Hornblower, Aubrey & Maturin, and other great sagas about the old sailing ships of the Napoleonic era. There is also the incomparable Flashman series and Sharpe and Graves's Sergeant Lamb for your more army-inclined folk who get seasick.

This Web Site is a remodelled version of the original King Arthur page published on the Internet in 1996. It has been broken down into separate web pages for ease of navigation and to break up those huge blocks of text. If you prefer this version, please bookmark the Index page. -- Grobius (April 1999)
