OTHER AESIR -- a short list of some of the other Norse gods.

• Thor. God of thunder and blacksmithing; a dull sort, but the common folk preferred him to Odin (he is also the eponym for Thursday).
• Loki. The trickster whose impulsive mischief caused endless grief. (Loki has a web site.)
• Freya. Goddess of sex and fertility.
• Frigg. Odin's wife; Friday is named after her.
• Balder. Odin's glorious son, killed by Loki who got the blind god Hod to throw mistletoe at him (Odin was pissed!)
• Valkyries. The Wagnerian warrior women who selected the souls of the bravest after battle and bore them to Valhalla.
