I have ignored this site (of mine) and others like it for many years. That will be my next web project -- promise! In the meantime here is an interim version with some old links.

OCEAN LINERS: Yes, just in case you are wondering why there is a link to this page from the Castles and Antiquities site, I consider them Ancient Monuments, to the extent that they survive in some form or another -- not these stupid floating Holiday Inns that pass for ships these days.

The last survivor of Titanic, Edith Haisman, died at the age of 100 on January 22, 1997.

By the way, if anybody out there in the Internet happens to read this page, and has something to say about the Queen Mary, the Queen Elizabeth (1), the Empress of Britain (out of Montreal up the St. Laurence to Liverpool, wow), the Nieuw Amsterdam, the France (now Norway) or the United States (actually forget which one of the last two I crossed on although I visited both to meet or see people off), the Rotterdam, or the Zuidercruis (a converted troop ship run by the Holland America Line in the early 1950s), please let me know. Those were the days, when I'd take ship across the Atlantic every summer for the school or college vacation break, and it was cheap too with student discounts....[Queen Mary was absolutely the best ship I was ever on, although my last trip, March 1967/8? just before she was decommissioned, was a horror show of stormy weather.] Please e-mail me with any memories you would like to share, especially if you are Gwen Nolan or Diana Moscowitz, who are just as old as I am now, but we had some good times back then.
