in World War I
- H BROUGHTON -
Private - 10th Bn., The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regt.)
He died on Tuesday, 13th August 1918. His memorial is on Panel
Number XXV.B.26 in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery located
11.5 kilometres west of Ieper town centre, on the Boescheepseweg
road in Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. There are now nearly
10,000, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site.
- H BROUGHTON -
Private - 14th Bn., Royal Warwickshire Regiment
He died on Tuesday, 24th April 1917. His memorial is on Panel
Number V.E.5 in the La Chaudiere Military Cemetery located approximately
3 kilometres south of Lens and is situated on the north-western
outskirts of Vimy, Pas de Calais, France. There are now over
900, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these,
nearly 200 are unidentified and special memorials are erected
to 6 British and 3 Canadian soldiers, believed to be buried among
them. Other special memorials record the names of 3 Canadians,
whose graves in Sumack Cemetery were destroyed in subsequent
fighting.

Gunner - "A" Bty. 54th Bde., Royal Field Artillery
He died on Monday, 14th May 1917. His memorial is on Panel Number
VII.D.13 in Struma Military Cemetery which is located 65 kilometres
North-East of Thessaloniki, in the village of Kalokastron, Greece.

Driver - 32nd Bde., Royal Field Artillery
He died on Sunday, 24th June 1917 at the age of 19. His parents
were W. and K. Broughton, of 5, Mount Pleasant, Sutton on Hull,
Yorks. His memorial is on Panel Number I.B.I in Ramscapelle Road
Military Cemetery, located 2 kilometers east of Nieuwpoort, West-Vlaanderen,
Belgium. There are now over 800, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated
in this site. Of these, over 300 are unidentified and special
memorials are erected to two soldiers from the United Kingdom,
known or believed to be buried in the cemetery. Other special
memorials record the names of 25 soldiers from the United Kingdom
and one from Australia, buried at Nieuport or Nieuport-Bains,
whose graves were destroyed by shell fire.
- HAROLD BROUGHTON -
Private - 6th Bn., King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry
He died on Friday, 15th September 1916. His memorial is on Pier
and Face 11 C and 12 A on the Thiepval Memorial located on the
D73, off the main Bapaume to Albert road in Somme, France.
- HARRY BROUGHTON -
Private - 6th Bn., Lincolnshire Regiment
He died on Monday, 27th November 1916. His memorial is on Pier
and Face 1 C on the Thiepval Memorial on the D73, off the main
Bapaume to Albert road in Somme, France.
- H C BROUGHTON -
Able Seaman - H.M.S. "Urchin.", Royal Navy
He died on Saturday, 10th January 1920 at the age of 31. He was
the son of Arthur Broughton, of Southmoor, Abingdon, and the
late Annie Broughton. His memorial is located at Longworth (St.
Mary) Churchyard, Berkshire, United Kingdom.
- HENRY BROUGHTON -
Private - 10th Bn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers
He died on Wednesday, 16th August 1916. His memorial is on Pier
and Face 4 A on the D73, off the main Bapaume to Albert road
in Somme, France.
- HERBERT BROUGHTON -
Corporal - 7th Bn., Suffolk Regiment
He died on Monday, 3rd July 1916 at the age of 26. His parents
were John and Jane Broughton, of 36, Duke St., Old Fletton, Peterborough.
His memorial is on Pier and Face 1 C and 2 A of the Thiepval
Memorial on the D73, off the main Bapaume to Albert road in Somme,
France.
- HERBERT EDWARD BROUGHTON - Private - "C" Coy. 2nd (Garr.) Bn.,
Essex Regiment
He died on Tuesday, 10th February 1920 at the age of 45. His
brother was T. W. Broughton, of 230, Camberwell New Rd., London.
His memorial is Panel Number Church.C.7649 at Plymouth (Efford)
Cemetery in Devon, United Kingdom.
- H G BROUGHTON -
Lance Corporal - 9th Bn., King's Royal Rifle Corps
He died on Monday, 9th April 1917. His memorial is on Panel Number
II.H.1 at Tilloy British Cemetery located southeast of the Tilloy-les-Mofflaines
village on the road to Wancourt, Pas de Calais, France. There
are now over 1,500, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this
site. Of these, over 600 are unidentified and special memorials
are erected to 14 soldiers from the United Kingdom, known or
believed to be buried among them. Other special memorials record
the names of eleven men of the 6th King's Own Scottish Borderers,
buried in Tees Trench Cemetery No. 2, whose graves were destroyed
by shell fire.
- HUGO DELVES BROUGHTON - Captain - 8th Bn. formerly 1st Bn., Cheshire
Regiment
He died on Tuesday, 4th April 1916 at the age 37. His parents
were the late Commander C. Delves Broughton, R.N., and Marion
Honora (Bouwens) Broughton Hugo's wife was Jessie Wingate (Matthews)
Delves Broughton . His memorial is on Panel 14 and 62 of the
Basra Memorial. More than 40,000 British, Indian and West African
dead who died in the operations in Mesopotamia from the Autumn
of 1914 to the end of August 1921, are commemorated on the Memorial.
It was originally located in the Basra War Cemetery in Iraq,
but was moved in 1997 to its present location 32 kilometers along
the road to Nasiriyah, in the middle of what was a major battleground
during the Gulf War.
