There was a time when I dwelt in fear. I was not sure if I could ever trust my heart or soul to another. I scoffed at the idea of love. Surely, only the foolish could believe that another would keep their secrets and treasure their souls. I suppose the reality is that I didn't know how to trust or have the faith to believe. Love was a mystery and I would not investigate the possibilities. I refused to set myself up to be betrayed, or to be left alone, after giving from the deepest parts of my heart.
