Continuing with their indispensable editions, Varese incorporates to their collection of Fox Classics the complete version of The Song of Bernadette, one of the more celebrated and winning scores of the great Alfred Newman. Worked in a special way, with the composer turned in heart in an unusual way for him, its music contains the best in his author's melodic and harmonic style, with the omnipresent strings section as motor and axis of the elaborate orchestration, and a religious air with wagnerian touches. Such was the success of the film that the Fox decided to publish the music, for the first time in its history, with a selection of twenty minutes re-recorded for the occasion for the own Newman; this complete version not only incorporates, logically, much more music but rather it also benefits of a specially clean sound (generally monophonic, although some cues present a rudimentary stereophonic sound). Four additional cues, with unused themes, complete an obligatory edition of a very advisable work.
