Bruce Rowland: JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH

Born musically for the film music with the resurgent Australian cinema of the beginning of the eighties, and especially with the stupendous The Man From Snowy River (1982), Rowland continuous his modest, but interesting, contribution from his country of origin with his score for a new television adaptation of the Jules Verne celebrated novel. Using a common mixture of orchestral and electronic components, where the attractive melodies are plentiful with certain air similar to James Horner (hear the stupendous theme The Journey Begins or Ralna), with opportune piano solos included, and including from time to time maori songs and exotic airs. Rowland creates an interesting and varied work, very pleasant of listening, something easily discernible through the thirty seven cues that it includes the disk. A.L.
