Alan Silvestri: PREDATOR

It has been necessary ten years to, through a private and limited edition, be able to enjoy the thirty-three cues which constitute the splendid and spectacular score which Alan Silvestri composed, in 1987, for the box-office success Predator. A composer then scarcerly recognized, with the exception of the also popular and still unpublished at its wholeness Back to the Future (1985), Silvestri defined his master lines creating a personal style which nowadays is plenty recognizable: syncopated and agressive rhythms which make use of a huge percussive section -piano included-, chromatic melodic flows with an abundance of semitones upgrades, or a marked face-to-face between brass and strings, are already a trademark of his works -even in the light ones-, and its conjunction with certain action cinema becomes striking and terribly attractive. Different scores along this ten years had credited this quality, as is the case of the also unpublished on its wholeness Blown Away (1994), from which it is offered seven terrific minutes, as a colophon of this perfunctory and hard to find record.
