John Barry: RAISE THE TITANIC

Almost twenty years after its creation, and after having disappeared of the box office almost as quick sunk the celebrated ship that searches in the film the adventurer Dirk Pitt, created by the novelist Clive Cussler, we can finally enjoy one of John Barry's more forgotten works. Composed among the magnificent and very popular Somewhere in Time (1980) and Body Heat (1981), the fifteen (wrongly numbered as sixteen in the disk) cues that integrate this reconstruction favored and generated by Nic Raine, Barry's habitual orchestrator, at the head of the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra shows the English composer in his fullness, with a superb initial theme, Prelude, and his omnipresent and wide melodies with prevalence of strings, generating that peculiar atmosphere so typical and special that is masterful and touching (The Titanic Uncovered). A wonderful disk not to be missed. A.L.
