Nino Rota: ROMA

A limited edition of the original recording of the music written by the great Nino Rota for Federico Fellini's fanciful vision of Roma, and that recovers the whole of it as included in the movie, unpublished in this format since the premiere of the film as the only available recording (published in 1973 by RCA), such and as told in the simple booklet that accompanies the disk, was consisting of a debatable mixes of songs of that time together with versions of certain themes by Rota especially arranged and recorded for the occasion. The sound, though monoaural and limited, results sufficient to enjoy the delicious score of the genial Italian composer, which moves (once again) between the nostalgia, the irony and a certain ludic sense, especially in the scenes of the ecclesiastic suits parade that make good use of manners and musical drafts certainly ancient. An excellent occasion to recover a forgotten and little known music. A.L.
