Christopher Young: ROUNDERS

Leaving aside works of a bigger orchestral affection, with tones between dark and oppressive of a demonstrated creativity, what has placed him among the most interesting and important film composers in the moment, Christopher Young slips in different land with this incursion in the mechanics of the jazz, something not unaware to his musical work -as it demonstrates the amusing and a little bit surprising The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997)- but certainly not habitual, although evidently more appropriate for the tone of the plot that it relates. Themes as The Catch, Railbirds or Worm use with a master touch the instruments that are part of a jazz group, but there are also included other more in his acquaintance's style line as Glowing Glimmer or Rosealee, on which the piano soloist constitutes an important part; a languid and a little bit sad theme float along the whole work, creating an interesting unit air in spite of the stilistic diversity.
