SLAUGHTER CANYON CAVE
Slaughter Canyon Cave is located in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The hike takes about 30 minutes from the parking area to the entrance. There is a large gate on the entrance which protects it from vandals and illegal entry. The cave consists of a very large passage which has several side passages stemming from it. At one time the cave was mined for its bat guano and it was used as a fertilizer. Slaughter Canyon Cave has some of the largest free-standing formations that I have seen anywhere.ENJOY THE PHOTOS!
