SENTINEL CAVE
Sentinel Cave can be found in the rugged terrain of Lincoln National Forest. After a bumpy ride and an hour hike over unfriendly landscape, you arrive at the entrance. A 50-foot rappel is necessary to gain entry into the cave. The passage slopes steeply downward and you are soon in a nicely decorated chamber. Below this chamber is another 50-foot rappel into yet another room with options for direction of travel. A short 20-foot climbup takes you into a series of side chambers that are filled with flowstone delicacies. There is also another route at the base of the second rappel. This requires a dynamic lead across a deep rift to gain access to the other side which then takes you deeper into the cave via two longer rappels and eventually ends in a room at the bottom.
