EQUIPMENT

Malts
|
In grain or extract form, this is what gives
your brew its distinctive flavor. The aroma you
smell when brewing comes from the malt. The
strength of your brew is related to the amount of
malt

1 - four gallon pot (stainless steel is best)

Hops
|
These dried flowers are used to provide varying
types of bitterness that balance the sweetness of
the malt.

2 - five gallon plastic buckets, food-grade (or
one can be a 6-7 gallon glass carboy
|
Sugar
|
Affects the alcohol content of the brew
|
1 - six feet of 3/8" inside diameter clear
plastic hose
|
Yeast
|
Converts the sugar during fermentation into
alcohol and carbon dioxide; powder or liquid form
|
1 - fermentation lock
|
Misc. Additives
|
Assorted ingredients that add additional flavors
or treatments.

1 - rubber stopper with hole for fermentation
lock

Water
|
If it tastes good, then you can use it to brew
with.
