Northland will sell 4 cranberry juice blends under Seneca brand
from The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

April 27, 1999: Northland Cranberries, based in Wisconsin, is introducing four cranberry blends under their Seneca label:  cranberry juice cocktail, cranberry apple, cranberry grape and cranberry raspberry. The drinks will consist of 27% cranberry juice blended with other products. These are the "not 100% juice drinks" which dominate the market. They will compete with the similar Ocean Spray products, although Northland CEO Swendrowski is quoted as saying "we hope to build the category instead of just steal from others."
The article also points out that Northland has renegotiated its long-term supply agreements with 30 independent cranberry growers who have accepted price cuts over the next two years to help Northland develop its markets.
"Swendrowski and other Northland executives have said they're pleased with the company's growing share of the juice market. However, the company has seen flat or declining earnings over the past few quarters as heavy promotional spending, a glut in the cranberry market and price cuts by Ocean Spray have taken their toll," according to the article.
