I have found, over the past few years, that Christmas
has become a time of weeping for me. Why? I set out this year to find out why. So as Christmas approached I began to build this Christmas Web Site in hopes to get into the Christmas Spirit. But as with every year, It seemed to pass me buy until Christmas Day, and it was on that day I figured it out. We have lost the true Spirit of Christmas. At first, Santa Clause replaced Christ, now Santa Clause isn't good enough for this Hi-Tech world we live in. All the retailers care about is how much they sell and even our own children are not even grateful for what they get. They have come to expect all they can lay their hands on. I remember when I was a child, I was thankful for what I got. We lived in a little 3 room apartment and there wasn't much room for toys nor was there much money. But we still had our tree and we had our toys. Then after Christmas dinner, Mom would bring out the Birthday cake with a little manger on it, and we would all sing Happy Birthday Jesus. Just ask kids today what Christmas is and why do we celebrate it? You might be surprised at the answers you get. Then we have to put up with Uncle Tom and Aunt Sally pouting for the next year because we didn't get them as much as they got us. How has it come that we now measure Love by the dollar? I am reminded of a story I once heard that goes something like this:

One day this small boy asked his Grandfather, "What is Christmas?" The Grandfather replied, "You will find it under your bed." The boy went and looked under his bed, but all he found was a old pair of shoes. He took the shoes to his brother and said "Look brother, Grandpa said this is Christmas!" The brother though him a fool and said "Look!" as he pointed over the city all filled with lights and decorations, 'That is Christmas."
So the boy went into town looking at all the bells and light when he saw, standing, looking up at the star on a tree, a small girl who was wearing no shoes. It was freezing cold outside and he stepped up to her, handed her the shoes and said, "Please take these, This is Christmas."

We have lost the Spirit of Christmas. But we can get it back. Teach your children. Love one another But most of all, give thanks to God for sending his Son on Christmas Day. Christmas, its more than a day off from work.

John 3:16 For God so Loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

...and here is the story of that gift.

          Luke 1:26-35

The angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary,: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing how I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

          Luke 2: 1-21

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swadding clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country, shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which  is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning the child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
          Matthew 2:1-12

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship Him." And when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he began to inquire of them where the Christ was to be born. And they said unto him, "In Bethlehem of judea, for so it has been written by the prophet 'AND YOU, BETHLEHEM, LAND OF JUDAH, ARE BY NO MEANS LEAST AMONG THE LEADERS OF JUDAH; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME FORTH A RULER, WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL." Then Herod secretly called the magi, and ascertained from them the time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, "Go and make careful search for the child; and when you have found Him, report to me, that I too may come and worship Him." And having heard the King, they went their way; and lo, the star , which they had seen in east, went on before them, until it came and stood over where the Child was. And when they saw the, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And they came into the house and saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him; and opening their treasures they presented to Him gifts of Gold and frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their own country by another way.
