FRIENDS

I have found that one of the rarest and sweetest
gifts in this life is a true friend.
I am not, of course referring to the woman in the beauty
shop that does your hair and listens to you as you
talk about the lil everyday things in your life,
or the neighbor that invites you down for coffee once
a month.

These are aquantances and general friends..

No, I am talking about the people that truly allow you
into their life and their heart.
The very special few that would glady give you the shirt
off their back, the food from their cupboard and
the bed they sleep in and for whom you would do the same (after all
true friendship IS a two way street!

Most of us, if we stop and think about it, can honestly
say we have found, maybe two or three people that can be
included in this number.
How wonderful these true friends are!!!
How much they enrich our hearts and our lives!!

Today, because we have the internet to reach out around the
world and meet so many new people, the number of
aquaintances has grown to a vast number.
Because of this the number of friends has also grown.

I have added many,many new friends to my life, each bringing
something special into it. Some staying, some not.
But each one adding something to it all the same.
I have gathered a few VERY special friends that I know would
lay down their lives for me.
They have proven this over and over again.
I would do the same for them too.

Another wonderful thing about the interenet is the many
beautiful things I receive in my mail each day.
I often get little poems, quotes etc. about friendship and
I always send them on to others
I have decided to also add this page so that I can share them
with you, the entire world

I hope you will read and enjoy them and feel free to copy
and take them with you to share with YOUR special frinds.

A friend.....
  is someone we turn to
  When our spirits need a lift,

MEMORY BOX
There is a place in my heart,

Where my memories I keep.

I lock it up tightly
At the end of each day
Hold them securely
And put them away

         A True Friend
  
Is one who understands where you have been,
accepts who you have become
and loves you unconditionally as you are.
She does not wish you `luck' as you step out into the unknown...
she walks into the void by your side.
She will not offer distractions 
nor easy advice in your time of need...
instead she will pray for wisdom, 
born of compassion and a willingness 
to take your pain upon herself.
Such a friend will always speak of you
  when you are not present, as though you were, 
and though she may not always share your sunny days, 
she will always be there to help you through the stormy ones.
She is not skeptical of your blooming,
nor jealous of your shining apart from her,
for she seeks not to steal your joy, 
but to multiply it.
It has been well said that there is no greater love than this...
for a true friend does not take life from you, 
she gives you her own.

With-in you,
I can feel your heart
Breaking in two.
I can sense the tears
With-in your soul

In the course of a lifetime
We find something special
When we least expect it,
In the most unexpected place
In a most unusual way.

Perhaps we go somewhere new
For no particular reason
And find a jewel  just by luck
Waiting for us to come along
And take the time to pick it up!

You look at it with widened eyes
A strange smile on your face,
And wonder if its real or not,
Without caring you pick it up,
Because it has beckoned you.

As the time passes by you
The jewel shines brighter
With  each new found day.
You hold it close to your heart
and you  treasure it and its beauty.          
         
   
          II

 Our FRIENDSHIP is like the jewel
found   where you least expected
In a time most important to you.
In way that is very strange indeed
But for the fact  it beckoned you.

You nurture it with each new day,
Caring not that it is not worth money.
The friendship itself is priceless
And like the rarest jewel on earth
You  treasure it for what it means to you.


           III

One day I wandered aimlessly
 Through the AOL  directory,
Looking for nothing special,
Just someone with some interest
The same as mine,

Your name appeared to pop out
From the page in neon light
And beckon to me to pick it up
And so I did just that very thing.

I dropped a line to the name
Expecting nothing in return
But the Gods had different plans
For the two people involved
And you answered my calling.

Somehow through fate and the
Miracle of cyberspace and AOL
We found each other in this place, 
In this time and in the way
Without any questions asked.

We picked it up not caring
If it was real or not
Nurtured and cared for it
With love and understanding.
The future left to the Gods.

Through three short months
We have become like one,
In thought, deed and mind
Knowing words not yet spoken
Thoughts not yet formed/

May all of our tomorrow’s be
Like the shining jewel
Our friendship  growing brighter
And more priceless with passing time
And nurtured, loved, and treasured.


 And like that jewel of  life
We hold it close to our hearts,
Treasuring it a new day,
Neither knowing or caring WHY
Just thankful that it is........






 
 A HIDDEN PLACE 
 Each of us has a hidden place
 Somewhere deep within ourselves;
 A place where we go to get away,
 To think things through,
 To be alone, to be ourselves.
 This unique place, where we confront our deepest feelings,
 Becomes a storehouse of all our hopes,
 All our needs, all our dreams,
 And even our unspoken fears.
 It encompasses the essence of who we are and what we want to be.
 But now and then, whether by chance or design,
 Someone discovers a way into that place we thought was ours alone.
 And we allow that person to see, to feel and to share
 All the reason, all the uncertainty
 And all the emotion we've stored up there.
 That person adds new perspective to our hidden realm,
 Then quietly settles down in his own corner of our special place,
 Where a bit of himself will stay forever.
 And we call that person a friend.

The night's gray and murky sky
