A message from the webmaster...

This is Mexican Seafood, the much beloved Nirvana web page created by Layla Archer, now of Opinion Magazine. Easilly considered the best Nirvana fan home page on the Internet, it has included the interactive "Memories Of Kurt," original games developed by Layla, information like "The Story Of Polly" and The Vinyl Guide, and much, much more. In the summer of 1997 Layla proceeded to re-do the entire page with a new warehouse theme, but this was cut short in that August -- to the disappointment of many Internet Nirvana fans, and especially to me, Layla elected to not continue the page for personal reasons, including her much time-consuming new role as Co-Creator (not to mention Publisher, Editor In Chief, President, Co-Owner, Designer, and Staff Writer!) of Opinion Magazine. (Of which I too am a staff member.)

The idea of the web no longer having this incredible gem of a Nirvana page was so brutal to me that I asked Layla if I could take it over, and she was more than happy to go along with the idea. However, it was a poor time for both of us to get into it. But now I am very pleased to unveil Mexican Seafood, as left by Layla, and put together as best I could do [with my fairly poor computer-art skills]. More features likely will be back up or introduced at a later time as Layla is able to help me out. (In addition to more Nirvana material, this also includes The Directory and The Information Booth, both of which are for the time being closed.) At this time I am not sure how much I will update sections such as those to which members invited to submit their own material. But for now, the submission forms are open, and hopefully I won't get bombarded with too many submissions!

May you enjoy this page as much as I always have!

The Mexican Seafood warehouse

Keep in mind, this isn't just any ordinary warehouse... Picture an old abandoned building in the middle of Aberdeen, Washington, just like the one above... Now imagine if someone took that building, and turned it into a virtual warehouse, filling it with everything a Nirvana fan's heart could desire... That would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?...

Well, you won't have to imagine it for much longer. Floor by floor, you'll be able to roam the halls as you gather stuff along the way... Shop at the Nirvana music center or Corner Bookstore, thumb through back issues at the magazine rack, check out past concerts at the center stage, and that's just the beginning! You'll find useful information, colorful pictures, a wide variety of sound samples, games galore, and much, much more...

And now, ladies and gentlemen, your wait may finally cease as you let your imaginations take on new paths throughout the new Mexican Seafood Warehouse!

Memories Of Kurt. Here you can look around the Warehouse Art Gallery which includes Kurt Cobain's sketches and other art, as well as art by the fans. Also read articles from Kurt's Uncle Larry, some of which are exclusive to Mexican Seafood! Read benchmark carvings, special memories, concert reviews and personal encounters from former visitors to Mexican Seafood, and submit your own!

The Mexican Seafood Cafe. Here you can slurp down some Nirvana soup (the house special), and you can also sample other treats from The Rock N' Roll Cookbook. Soon you will be able to relax and unwind with fellow fans over a cuppa java chat while spinning some tunes on the Nirvana MIDI Jukebox. (Unfortunately, while we get set up, the coffee maker and the jukebox are both temporarilly out of order.)

The Corner Bookstore. This is where you can browse through several sections of Nirvana and related books. You can check out the prices and order them to be sent right to you in the mail! Later on, once we get settled here at the Warehouse, you will be able to check out the Quote Generator as well.

Rape Me. The most serious section of Mexican Seafood, this is where you can read the true story of Polly. You can also read up on the anti-rape benefits that Nirvana played. If you have been raped or a victim of other "domestic violence," or you just want to find out more about it and how to fight against it, please utilize the collection of links to pages that deal with these matters.

Nevermind, it's an interview. In the auditorium, Kurt St. Thomas, Music Director of WFNX, Boston, speaks with Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl about life in Nirvana, circa 1992. Read information about it, hear sound clips in WAV format, see images from it, and read the entire transcript.
After seeing this site, Kurt St. Thomas offered Layla an interview for Opinion Magazine. You can check that out here.

Jumble From Hell! The Game Room is not yet open, but you can still test your skills with the Jumble From Hell! On the way (hopefully!) is "Name That Nirvana Tune" and "Mexican Seafood's 3D Adventure"!

    Video Guide
    Vinyl Guide
These are a couple of great resource guides written by Layla. Check 'em out!
