I'd Like To Be A Poet
What's it take to be a poet?
That's who I'd like to be...
Writing down my thoughts in verse
Setting spirits free

What's it take to write a line
Of poetry. . .or two?
Conveying what I'd like to say
To people such as you?

I try to share a talent
Using word-rule as an art
And choose the proper words
To say that linger in my heart

I hope that I may one day be
A poet of some kind
If only to the friends I touch
And if only in my mind

Welcome to POETIC PEACHES & DREAMS If you enjoy poetry, you’ve come to the "write" place, as you will find a variety of poetry forms here. This is a gathering of poetry from contemporary poets as well as selections from some of the famous poets of yesterday.  Also featured in the " Peach Fuzz " section are simple children's poems in the hope of encouraging and instilling in our children an appreciation for poetry from the earliest years of life. This I do with my children, just as my mother did with me.

Perhaps you're asking yourself: "What have peaches got to do with poetry?"  The answer to that question lies in the roots of my family tree which are in the beautiful, southern state of Georgia, " the peach state."  Yeah, you guessed it:  I’m a genuine southern belle, a daughter of Dixie Land!  And as for the dreams, poets are forever dreaming!  I now reside in Lynn Haven, Florida, a small suburb of Panama City, having been here for sixteen years.  But, of course I still have Georgia on my mind!
I believe that poetry is a therapeutic art form for both the reader and the writer of it.  Poetry is a gateway through which the imagination can fly, a window through which the heart can laugh and cry.  It is the means by which we can allow the child inside each of us to express ourselves on many planes about the multi-faceted complexities of this thing called LIFEPoetry is the music of my heart and poets are the instruments of that music. I welcome comments and ideas or questions, from all who visit here.  Also much appreciated is the feedback you can provide to the writers featured here.  It takes just a moment to let someone know you appreciated something they wrote, and the comments are a joy to the author, as well as being helpful.
