Self-Drive Trip |

I'm excited about this trip. I'm equally nervous too!
Unlike all my previous tours, this trip is totally independent and self arranged. I'll be
exploring the beautiful South Africa and Namibia. For South Africa, I've heard enough of
horrifying stories about crimes and mugging (there's a bomb blast in Cape Town's Planet
Hollywood resturant on 25 Aug 98, believed to be an act of terrorism by the Muslims
against the Americans). And in Namibia, some remote areas in the desert have no water nor
food available, posing logistical problem.
The trip is comparatively cheap. But the equipment and gear required are deadly
expensive!
I've earned lots of bonus points from my credit card with a new pair of hiking boots,
backpacks, down sleeping bags, Therm-A-Rest sleeping pads, MSR
multi-fuel stove & cookware and Sierra Design tent.

I'm now back.
Back with a swollen finger due to infection. I was hospitalized,
went through an operation and was on medical leave. What a way to recover from
jet-lag!
The trip was really exciting. The car stunts that I had performed on several occassions
were as exciting as those seen in movies. Never knew that I had the gift as a car
stuntman. I burst 4 tires and had to change the car in Luderitz.
