BAKER, ANDREW J., merchant, lawyer, legislator, was born
Sept. 4, 1842, in Mississippi. He attended the University of
Mississippi, and served during the civil war in the confederate
army, and was twice a member of the Mississippi state
legislature. He is a successful merchant and lawyer of San
Angelo, Texas; has served with distinction as a member of the
Texas state legislature; and for four years was commissioner
of the general land office of Texas.
