This is my evaluation of Metallica's "Reload". One thing I really like about Reload is they are trying new things, but on the other hand, they have a Soundgarden sound to them now and that really sucks. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this just happens to be mine. Feel free to argue if you like.. that's the purpose of this page.
1: "Fuel"
Don:
"Gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme a better intro! The song is excellent. I like the riffs played throughout the song.. and it has alot of their talent portrayed, but Hetfield heading the song like that really ruins it."
Rated: 3.5
Hollye:
"When first hearing this song, I thought it was crap, judging it by the introduction. As the song proceeded, it wasn't as bad as I once thought. But did they actually have to go and put it in the song a second time? I think it wasn't nessesary at all. It doesn't add to the quality of the song whatsoever. Everytime I hear it, I can't help but think of some Beavis and Butthead "ish" teens out spray painting Metallica on the side of some run down building. It's definatly one of the better songs on the album."
Rated: 3
2: "Memory Remains"
Don:
"This song is excellent; slow rhythm but good. The only thing I dislike about this song is... "luh duh duh duhhh duh..". That gets annoying. The song has a really strong lead without a doubt. Jason and Lars did an excellent job on bass and percussion. I really can't complain much about the song."

Hollye:
"Well.. this song is an excellent first release for an album. It's rather catchy and something I find myself groovin' along to. The woman singing I particularly like. It's hard for me to explain, but it sort of complete's the song. It fits into the song great and was very surprising for me to hear them use it in one of their songs. I don't know why, just is."
Rated: 5
3: "Devil's Dance"
Don:
"Excellent! One of their best songs on this album! Great bass intro, with a small but great introductory riff."
Rated: 5
Hollye:
"Guitar wise, it's good. But hey, it is Metallica afterall. For the song itself, I would have to say it's rather boring. It's just too typical. I have nothing further to say about it at this time."
Rated: 2
4: "Unforgiven II"
Don:
"When I first heard this song, I thought it kicked ass; I still do. It's just as good as the first one, if not better. The lyrics are kind of repetetive, but it's still a very respectable piece of art."
Rated: 5
Hollye:
"This is a really good song, very surreal. And on that point it was impressive to me. No need to compare it with Unforgiven the first, because they are two different songs. And I like them both."
Rated: 5
5: "Better Than You"
Don:
"I like the intro, the way it was mixed, and the music. The lyrics were also good... but Metallica can do a hell of a lot better than this. Much like Unforgiven II, it is repetive. There is way too much repetition and that just makes the song less tolerable. It's a good song and the end is good."
Rated: 3.5
Hollye:
"This song is okay, I've definately heard worse, but have heard a lot better coming from them. It changes sound qualities too much. Talk about riding the border of punk and metal. The two sounds just clash too much in this song. And they obviously didn't work to hard on the lyrics either."
Rated: 1.5
6: "Slither"
