It was a Saturday morning when I informed my husband I was going shopping.
Little did he know it was for a cat! My first stop was the SPCA. There
were cats of all kinds waiting to be adoped, along with this little white,
scrawny 7-month-old 'stray' who persistently poked her long slender paws
through the cage to get my attention. She was so friendly; I just had to
hold her. The poor baby had a URI, was flea ridden and had a bad case of
worms. After I put her back in the cage, my black sweatshirt was
completely
covered with white fur! *sigh* "too much trouble" I thought.
It was hard not to think about her as I was trying to get the rest of my
shopping done. If I didn't get her, who will? So I went to Sears and
purchased a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner, and went ahead with the adoption.
The moment my husband saw this cat in a box, he laughed and said, "that's
not a cat, she looks more like a mouse"! I must admit, she did look like a
white mouse with her incredibly pink ears and nose. However, I assured him
that he would like her personality and that looks are not everything.
She was treated at the vets for her ailments and was given a clean bill of
health. My little Daffney has grown from a lonely stray to a beautiful,
healthy cat. She has loads of character and is actually very entertaining.
She enjoys retrieving fuzzy balls and loves to talk. She is such a ham.
Daffney is a fanatic about water, so she is willing to take a bath, jump
through the sprinkler and drink from a hose. She also likes to be in high
places - like on top of the cupboards, where her ears touch the ceiling.
We are very proud of our white kitty and it is plain to see that Daffney is
"daddy's little girl!"
