How To Design a Web Page
      Part 1

      Lesson 1
      Getting Started

You must develop good habits to design so please strictly follow!

When you surf for Sets and backgrounds and you find an artist that you like, save the URL ONLY.

Select favorites (IE) or bookmark (Netscape)on your browser by making a folder called "Graphics" and save the artists MAIN PAGE or site map to that folder.

(I have so many that I make separate folders for different categories of graphics under the main Graphics folder. I have country, gifts, animations, muted backgrounds, etc. on favorites.)

Other favorites folders that I make all the time is "Holidays" and I nest more folders inside that called Christmas, Easter, etc. when I come across one I like.

The same thing applies to Midis and Fonts.

Go ahead try a few and we will go on.

      NOW:

Pick a subject that you want to talk about

Pick a graphic set that you like that has the same mood as your topic

Pick a midi that has the same mood.

Lets say that your subject is angels and you have found a graphic set and midi etc. that you love. You will now do two things:

      1. On your desk top, right click and choose new folder. Name it "angel" (get in the habit of making all files and folders in small caps to save time later)

      2. Right click again on new text document and call it "angel credit" and save it inside angel folder.

      3. Now using your browser (I use IE 4.0) open the graphics set on the net that you love and right click the background, bar, header etc. from that set.

ALWAYS save the graphic the artist supplies for the credit link with the rest.

      4. Now go up to the address line of the page you are taking the set from and click on the address to highlight it.

Right click the addy and click copy and save it to the text document "angel credit" inside your "angel" folder that you created on your desk top.

Now open up the "angel credit folder . Type in graphic credit: then paste the addy there.

(I do this every time and I never have lost a credit since.)

      5. Take the midi file that you have chosen and save it to your "Angel" folder on your desk top that you made earlier.

      6. Lets say you have used note pad to write what you want to say on this web page called "angel" or have copied a neat poem or joke, place that in your "angel folder" also.

You now have a folder on your desk top that contains the makings for your whole web page.

Next lesson will be "What do I do with the "angel" folder to make it into a web page"
