I've been searching for some of my grandpa's WWII Navy buddies. So far, I've managed to find 14 living. However, there are more to be found. Does anyone have a good website for finding lost people? I have checked out the obvious ones... www.switchboard.com www.infospace.com www.theultimates.com and so on. I've tried the 'find lost friends' pages, like who-me.com, but have not had much luck with these, as the lost people have to be signed up on those pages in order to find them. I've searched the private investigator pages, like www.pimall.com, and the ones you have to pay for. (I don't have social security numbers, so those don't work). I've also tried literally hundreds of the military sites, like WAE, and the Navy Memorial pages, and the army searches, etc. I've also eliminated some through the Social Security Death Index page on the ancestry.com page. Anybody else out there doing this kind of searching and having any luck? I'd appreciate some help. Thanks Amy Snodgrass asnodgra@ashland.edu Subject: Things and Places ?? Date: Tue, 3 Feb 1998 08:47:11 +0000 From: Cecilia Franco White I've got a question for people interested in how other people live. Here's an example of the sort of everyday information I'm looking for, from Germany. Basically, a substantial collection of fotos, with information relating them to everyday life in Germany. http://www.goethe.de/z/50/alltag/foto/deindex.htm I got this from http://www.goethe.de/dindex.htm Remember, if you look at these, you can see translations (sort of) by using http://babelfish.altavista.digital.com/cgi-bin/translate? Does anyone have similar visual/verbal cultural information for other countries, in their native languages?
