Keepsafe Maximum Glass is a laminated glass which consist of a tough plastic interlayer sandwiched together between two pieces of glass under heat and pressure using an interlayer of Polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This technology originated for use in automotive windshields over 60 years ago and was a natural starting point for impact protection systems.
Unlike other laminated glass products, Keepsafe Maximum Glass uses only .090" of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) produced by Solutia Inc. and meets all hurricane protection standards of the South Florida Building Code as well as the requirements of the Miami Dade Code and Compliance office. Additionally, Keepsafe Maximum Glass has passed Dade County's Plastic requirements for testing and weathering according to section 3505 of the South Florida Building Code, the component product approval number is 98-0728.05.
PGT Industries Windows glazed with this product meet all of the Dade County requirements for Large Missile Impact, Cyclic Wind Loading, Air and Water Infiltration and Forced Entry.
