The Joint -A Review

Stan, "The Man" Wozniak, of Jilly's fame; has done it again! He has just opened up a very unique, exciting, and varied night club and play pen in a charming old building conveniently located just north of the main Ontario entertainment area next to Excalibur. It is a multi-level and multi-room extravanganza of a place that will keep you visually stimulated and exercised as you move from room-to-room and level. There is a bar upfront, a jazz club next, a disco in the lower level and of course our favourite place of them all - A VIP ROOM!

When we were there we ran into our own Countess about town and her husband Petros of Greek restaurant fame. Also, we already saw some major CEO's and expect this to soon be the hottest spot in town! Hats off to Stan on a job well done!

FLEMING'S REVIEWhands.gif (3120 bytes)

Fleming's has opened to great fan fare! Several PACErs have already had dinner there and report that the service and menu selections are unbeatable.

It is paneled in dark warm wood and has the atmosphere of a rich private club - along with the service levels. There are bars on both the street and upper levels. The salads are huge and crispy. The baked potatoes alone are unbelievable! They are the size of cantaloupes! The steaks are juicy and well done. However, I do not recommend the Beef Wellington yet. They still are perfecting it. The cheesecake is especially yummy.

Women, caution however. The washroom is hidden and some of you got the idea that the one stall handicap washroom is the women's washroom! Not so. Hint: it is down a long angled corridor on the second floor.

I predict that this will be one of the hottest spots around soon and very popular with Chicago's charitable community.

09/07 -Thank you McCormick & Schmick's!P.A.C.E. ventured forth to beautiful Oak Brook last month and had a stupendous evening at the brand new and elegant McCormick & Schmick's there. We dined on sumptuous and tasty hors d'oeuvres served up by a friendly and attentive staff in warm wood paneled surroundings. A balcony overlooking a tranquil pond provided a scenic outdoor respite, as did the warm glow of the outside fireplace nearby.

But perhaps the most interesting person we met there was our lovely host, Mrs. Doug Schmick, wife of one of the co-founders. She was particularly interested in P.A.C.E. and we learned a lot about her charitable activities. A little aside along these lines: did you know that "each year McCormick & Schmick Seafood Restaurants provides over 17,000 complimentary meals to veterans visiting any McCormick & Schmick Restaurant on Veterans Day". Also we learned that the other founder, William P.McCormick, is our current Ambassador to New Zealand and has long been a pillar of charitable activities throughout the United States.

To those of you planning a charitable or other event, I would recommend that you consider hosting it at one of McCormick and Schmick's fine restaurants near you - McCormick & Schmick's. They are great people with a great product who support charitable activities! J.P. Camden - September, 2007
