09/07 -Thank you McCormick & Schmick's!P.A.C.E. ventured forth to beautiful Oak Brook last month and had a
stupendous evening at the brand new and elegant McCormick & Schmick's there. We dined
on sumptuous and tasty hors d'oeuvres served up by a friendly and attentive staff in warm
wood paneled surroundings. A balcony overlooking a tranquil pond provided a scenic outdoor
respite, as did the warm glow of the outside fireplace nearby.
But perhaps
the most interesting person we met there was our lovely host, Mrs. Doug Schmick, wife of
one of the co-founders. She was particularly interested in P.A.C.E. and we learned a lot
about her charitable activities. A little aside along these lines: did you know that
"each year McCormick & Schmick Seafood Restaurants provides over 17,000
complimentary meals to veterans visiting any McCormick & Schmick Restaurant on Veterans Day".
Also we learned that the other founder, William P.McCormick, is our current Ambassador to
New Zealand and has long been a pillar of charitable activities throughout the United
States.
To those of
you planning a charitable or other event, I would recommend that you consider hosting it
at one of McCormick and Schmick's fine restaurants near you - McCormick &
Schmick's. They are great people with a
great product who support charitable activities! J.P. Camden - September,
