Three Village Swim Club 25th Year - 1974 - 1999
Three Village Swim Club is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 1999. We are celebrating both the accomplishments of the past and the promise of the future. We enter the new millennium with a sense of purpose and a confidence that, with hard work, dreams actually do come true. In August of 2000, Christopher Helin will realize his dream by representing TVSC at the United States Olympic Trials. Whether you qualify for the Olmpic Trials or get accepted to the college of your choice, TVSC provides an environment in which swimmers learn to have fun setting and achieving their goals.

Head coach, Barry Roffer, has been has been the driving influence , at TVSC, for 18 very successful years.  During coach Roffer's tenure, TVSC swimmers have improved steadily and received national recognition for excellence.  For 13 of those years, TVSC has sent swimmers to Junior Nationals with 4 of them qualifying for Sr. Nationals.  Not only have TVSC swimmers qualified for these meets, but they have performed quite well having set Jr. National records and placed in the top sixteen at Sr. Nationals.

TVSC Program

The Three Village Swim Club is a year-round, USA-Swimming-affiliated, swim program. The program starts after Labor day and goes till early August.

From September till June the team practices in the Ward Melville High School pool. In the summer months the team practices at night in the H.S. pool and in the mornings in the outdoor 50 meter Holtsville pool.
TVSC offers five different training groups:

Developmental Team

The Developmental Team trains one day a week. This program is for boys and girls 6 years or older who know how to swim, who like to swim, who want to become better swimmers and who want to learn all four competitive strokes. When swimmers have sufficiently mastered all strokes, they can move up into the Three Village Swim Club Novice program.

The head Development Team coach is Paul Furbeck and he is assisted by Jessica Kevins and Danielle Staszak. When there are no swim meets, the coaches are also assisted by several TVSC Senior swimmers for more individualized practice. There are two Development Team session per year. The first session is from October to December and the second session is from February to April.

Novice A and B Group

The Novice B and A group is for boys and girls 6 to 12 year old. This group meets 3 to 4 days a week for one hour. Teaching technique, teaching the proper fundamentals of swimming and fun are the main emphasis for this group, rather than swimming yardage. This group typically swims 1,500 yard to occasional 2,500 yard per practice. When swimmers are ready, they will be entered in (local) swim meets.

The head Novice Team coach is Paul Furbeck and he is assisted by Jessica Kevins and Danielle Staszak.

Junior Group

The Junior group meets 5 to 6 days a week for 1 1/2 hours and is for swimmers 9 to 14 years old. Technique is still emphasized, however more cardiovascular training is introduced. Typical training yardage 3,000 to 4,500. This level is more competitive than the Novice level.

The Junior group is coached by Bradley Roffer and Peter Smit. The swimmers are entered in about 15 meets a year

Senior Group

The Senior program is for swimmers 13 and older and meets 6 days a week, including 2 morning double sessions. The evening sessions consist of 1 hour dryland 2 hours swim practice. The morning practices are 1 1/4 hour.

Cardiovascular training is stressed as well as race strategies, strength and flexibility training, and other training techniques.

At TVSC, the focus is on the long term development of the swimmers! The Senior group is coached by Head Coach Barry Roffer and he is assisted by Kerry Houston and Paul Furbeck.
