Collected Insects Macroinvertebrate Research Project: The purpose of this biomonitoring is to determine the impact of Abandoned Mine Drainage(AMD) on the insect life in the Upper Mahoning Creek Watershed. In the photograph on the left, the researcher, shows a variety of collected aquatic insects. Note: the sample shown in the photo was collected from the Mahoning Creek in Big Run on January 12, 2003.

Research Sites:
Field Study Site 1 - East Branch of the Mahoning Creek, at bridge along SR 3009 in Brady Township, Clearfield County.
Field Study Sites 2A and 2B - Stump Creek, bridge at the confluence of Sugar Camp Run in Sykesville, Jefferson County. (Note: 2A - above discharge and 2B - below discharge)
Field Study Site 3 - Mahoning Creek, at Little Canada Bridge off SR 119 in Big Run, Jefferson County.
