Devotion #2:
I love my family!

Memory Verse: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother." Ephesians 6:1-2

Can you draw a picture of your family?

In your picture, make sure to draw your pets too! Then draw a house around your family.

How many people are in your family?

Do you have any pets?

Who takes care of you and cooks your meals?

Be sure to thank your Mommie for her good meals!

Who plays ball with you or gives you big hugs?

Don't forget to thank your Daddy for playing with you and be sure to hug him and tell him how much you love him.

Do you have any brothers or sisters
that you enjoy playing with?

Sometimes when we play with our brothers and sisters, we don't always get along well. Ask God to help you to get along better with your brothers and sisters. Be the first one to say that you are sorry after an argument! Show them you love them!

A Family is a Mother, a Daddy, and YOU! All families are different and some families have brothers, sisters, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and pets too! God makes every family special!

Did you know that God gave you your family? God gave children like you parents to take care of them. God also tells children how to treat their parents. God wants children like you to love their parents very much and to obey them.

Because you love God, you will want to make your parents happy and do what they ask of you.

Make sure to say your prayers at night and thank God for giving you your parents to take care of you!

Did you know that a family is a special gift from God? If you have brothers or sisters, God gave them to you and you should love them too.

Did you know that Jesus had a family too? He did! Jesus had a Mommie named Mary and he helped Jospeh work in the carpenter shop. Jesus loved His family and he obeyed them. Jesus wants you to love and obey your family too!

Activities

Ask Mom or Dad to give you a family photo. Glue your photo to a piece of construction paper and fold it to make a card. On the front of your card, write a message to your Mom and Dad: something like, "Thank you God for my family!" Give your card to your Mom and Dad along with a GREAT BIG HUG!

Write the words, "God's family lives here" on the top of the family picture that YOU drew. Put contact paper on your drawing and hang it up on your bedroom door!

Do something very special for each member of your family. You could help Mommie clean the house or help Daddy clean the garage or wash the car. Don't forget your brothers and sisters! You could help your brothers and sisters clean their rooms or maybe share a special toy with them.

A Special Prayer

My Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for giving me such a wonderful family. I know that you love me and my parents love me too. I know that it pleases you when I obey my parents and show them how much I love them. Please help me to obey my parents every day! The best part of all is that my family is part of YOUR family! Thank you for giving me a special family! I love you Jesus! Amen
