Devotion #7

What is LOVE?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. "
John 3:16

Nobody loves you more than Jesus. Jesus loved you so much that
He came to earth as a little baby in a manger and then he
died on the cross for your sins so that you could live in
heaven with Him someday.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his
friends"
John 15:13

What is LOVE?

The dictionary says that love means:
"having strong affection for a friend or relative or for another person."

I bet you feel love for a lot of people.
Your Mom & Dad
Brothers and Sisters
Grandparents
Your pets
Teachers
Friends & Neighbors

We should LOVE God with all our heart!

When we show love to other people it makes US feel happy too!

Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy.
It does not boast, it is not proud
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered
It keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres
1 Corinthians 13

Love means waiting for our turn patiently when playing with
friends and treating each other nicely. We should be happy for others when something good happens to them.

LOVE also means to forgive our friends if they hurt our feelings or treat us badly. Forgiving someone also means that we should try
NOT to think about what this person did to us. We
should try to think nice thoughts about this person.

The Bible also says that LOVE means to protect and trust.
Jesus LOVES and PROTECTS us everyday!
When we feel REAL LOVE in our hearts, we will
be happy when people obey Jesus and His commands.

What are some ways that
you can show love to other people?

Obeying your parents.
Being kind to others.
Doing extra nice things for other people.
With hugs and kisses
Being a good friend. Playing fairly and kindly.
You can show God you love Him by praying to Him and telling Him that you love Him. You can also show God how much you love Him by reading the Bible and doing what God ask you to do.
