DAVID BISHOP
Saying Grace

I see you sitting beneath the oak,
hands folded,
silent.
The necessary petitions are made.

From a distance the Loon's song
plays in your ears;
God's creature too.

Old forests are full of limbs
snapped
and logs lying in transition;
oaks and acorns,

and simple litanies.
