RANDALL STEVENSON
A Summer Storm
What titans are these trees that sway
to beats of thunder under gray !
They dance a welcome to the storm
like children of the woods at play.
Excitement sprints across the corn
igniting thrills my wits will mourn
when ample drops subdue their flame
and settle dust the world has worn.
But now the scent of promised rain
and hues beyond my window pane
invoke a spell that summons me,
that carries me away again.
Delighted in this ecstasy,
I scarcely note the falling sea
an angry sky shakes down on me.
An angry sky shakes down on me.
