JAY MARVIN
LAWN CHAIR LIFE
(poetryrepairshop 99.10:110)
Lashed to a rubber green lawn chair
I rail against falling leaves
anchored in the bedroom community
of my choice waving a pistol in final
displeasure burnt out lawns cookie
cutter people this can't be what
America has come to but it is
let's start the insurrection now
a war against boredom against
capital against you and me
against God and this fucking
lawn chair against every
Saturday afternoon that ever
was against every dream that
never came true against the
world against time against
against the sun a prayer
for darkness on my cracked
pissed off lips.

Octavio Paz:
The poem makes us remember that which we have forgotten: this that we really are.
